Norton Internet Security 2009 Firewall Configuration

How do I configure Norton Internet Security 2009 for use with Pure Networks software?

Answer:

Norton Internet Security 2009 Firewall Configuration

1. Open Norton Internet Security 2009

2. Click on “View Home Network”

3. Click on the first device at the top of the map

4. To the right of the Network Trust level click on “Edit”

5. Select the trust level “Full Trust” then click “OK”

6. Repeat step 5 for all devices on the network.

7. Click “Close”

8. In the middle section click on “Settings”.

9. In the Smart Firewall section, find “Program Control”. Click “Configure” to the right of “Program Control”.

10. In Program control there should be three programs listed for Network Magic:

1. Pure Networks Platform Service: nmsrvc.exe
2. Network Magic Application: nmapp.exe
3. Network Magic CTXTH: nmctxth.exe

If you do not find these files, you will need to click "Add" button on this screen. Find the file name at C:\Program files\Common files\Pure Networks Shared\Platform\ and click “open”.

11. Change the access for these files to “Allow” by dropping down the arrow next to this setting.

12. Click “OK”

13. In the Smart Firewall section, find “Advanced Settings”. Click “Configure” to the right of “Advanced Settings”.

14. Find the option for “Stealth Blocked Ports” and change to “Off”.

15. Click “OK” twice. Then close out of Norton.
