What is the Beta Program?
Software development is a process that is done in many milestones where the product evolves and becomes more stable. During each of these phases feedback is solicited from different groups of people with varying backgrounds. Beta is the point where we feel that we've ironed out the majority of the bugs but some of the functionality may not be working 100% of the time. We have a well-equipped test lab here at Pure Networks, but we can't possible account for all of the combinations of PCs, network devices and setups in the real world.
So this is where our Beta program comes in. The product is released to a group of people (beta testers) who put the product through their paces and report any problems, user experiences, or feedback to us.
What can a beta tester expect?
Beta isn't for everyone and the "usual" Beta caveats apply*. But basically, the software is not ready for release to the masses and there will be bugs. Enrolling in the Beta program and installing the Beta software means accepting a slight risk of issues it may crash your system, it may be unstable, and it may have some compatibility problems that we aren't yet aware of.
Also, you'll get more frequent updates to your software (than normal) and we expect you to load these as soon as they are available.
You can withdraw from the Beta program at any time: you just need to uninstall your Beta product and install the shipping product.
OK, I'm In. How do I sign up?
