The Board



Jeff Erwin
Jeff Erwin is the CEO of Pure Networks. Previously, Jeff founded and ran three different high-tech companies (including ProTools and Kaspia) that were successfully acquired, and has served at the Vice President level at two different public companies (Network General and Visio). Jeff’s employment history also includes five years at Microsoft, where he served as General Manager for the Network Management Group & the Visio product line and was also the Director of Incubation for Microsoft Research in the wireless mesh networking space. Immediately prior to Pure Networks, Jeff was the President and CEO of Experticity, the leading developer of "the next-generation of customer information systems." Jeff has filed eight patents, shipped seven products at Microsoft, and has board-level experience with multiple VC-backed startups.

David Ladd
As a Managing Director at Mayfield, David currently serves on the boards of LGC Wireless, Orative, Sylantro Systems, Teja Technologies, T-RAM, WaveSplitter Technologies, and Pure Networks. A serial entrepreneur, David was one of the early engineers at Rolm Corporation. After eight years at Rolm, he founded a voice messaging company (Opcom/VMX) which grew to a $100M+ revenue public company. In 1994 VMX merged with Octel Communications and David became CTO. Octel was acquired by Lucent Technologies in 1997, at which time David joined Mayfield part-time while continuing to help Lucent form spin-out companies based on Bell Labs technology. David joined Mayfield full-time in May 1999 and currently serves as a Managing Director. David holds a B.S. degree in Engineering Physics from U.C. Berkeley and an M.S. in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology.

John Ludwig
John Ludwig is a partner at Ignition Partners where he is responsible for the development of the venture fund's overall technical investment strategy. Prior to joining Ignition, John spent 11 years at Microsoft Corporation where he most recently served as Vice President of Product Development from 1998-99. John built the Microsoft Internet Explorer, 700-member team responsible for the first four releases of Internet Explorer, growing market share from 0 to 60 percent. He co-managed the development of Microsoft Windows 95, including the design and development of all the networking, communications, and corporate features.

Rob Stavis
Rob Stavis is a general partner in Bessemer's Larchmont, NY office. He focuses on investments in the financial services sector as well as in emerging software technologies. Since joining BVP, Rob has invested in independent research companies Gerson Lehrman Group and Soleil Securities; pre-paid debit card provider PRE Solutions; CRM software developer AIT Group (LSE-AIM: AGP); and Skype Technologies, where he led the A-round financing. He also sits on the board of PXRE Group (NYSE: PXT), a Bermuda-based property and casualty reinsurance company. Until its 2004 acquisition by Vestmark, Rob was on the board of the financial services analytics company LifeHarbor.
